AVG Anti-theft communication will not work, and for technical reasons cannot work, if the device you are trying to Locate or signal is within metal walls.
My wife thought she had left her Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 tablet behind at a course she was attending two weeks ago. We had established and confirmed its Anti-theft response months ago, but I could get no Locate response upon attempts a number of times each day. I thought its battery might be dead, or the finder did something to prevent its being located (like removing the battery).
Yesterday, checking her car for the umpteenth time (I had looked too), there it was, cleverly looking like a back seat floor mat! As soon as I removed it from the car, it started clucking and beeping, catching up on all its messages. The car was only a few feet from where my PC AVG software had been trying to find it.
I logged on to AVG Anti-theft, and it located the device immediately. So…if your lost mobile device is inside metal walls, like a vehicle, it is unlikely it will respond. You have to find it yourself!

Alan Binch: If a person has lost a device or had it stolen, do you not realize that it is probably a Windows (or Mac) desktop that would be used with the AVG Anti-theft Internet site to Locate, Shout, Wipe or Lock the missing mobile device. No one can take screen shots or otherwise mess with a
missing device!
Here is an update: I Uninstalled my Win10 AVG Internet Security (3 PCs), and my AVG Unlimited ZEN applications, deleted every instance of a download of AVG appliations, signed on to my AVG Account, did a fresh download of AVG Internet Security (3PCs), installed it, updated definitions and my PC is once again fine.
The ZEN manager has been a trouble-plagued piece of crap ever since I purchased it in 2016. I hope internet claims that AVG products all now include ZEN, and none is available without it are in error. Unless serious development of the interface between PC and mobile solutions achieves great advances, and AVG creates a Support team that can address issues on that interface, the company has made a serious stragic buiness error. Customers will flee to competitors rather than renew.
