i tried EVERYTHING possible to uninstall the old version of AVG. it will just not update. not show as icon on desktop. it will just not uninstall. NO AVG removal tool works. the control panel option does not work. I regret to state like the reviewers on CNET say…AVG will sit there like a VIRUS!

read so many AVG support articles. searched google. did EVERYTHING except reformating my computer and installing windows again. i think i will have to do that to finally get rid of AVG for ever.
finally, i am forced to accept a slow computer with a non-functional AVG sitting there like a virus.
forced to download bitdefender and have it there. although, it is not good to have 2 anti-virus but, atleast now i have some protection.
i have always been a loyal AVG user and supporter but, h**l broke loose after i tried to uninstall it (to install the new 2015 version). i really feel sorry to say that AVG is a virus. i curse the day i trusted AVG for the first time.
i have never used bitdefender before. but i was surprised by the efficiency and silence of bitdefender (free). no configurations. no settings. no manual scans. in fact, i was searching for things "to do" (like in AVG or any software. its like a breath of fresh air after AVG nightmare (that is still sitting on my computer)

I had the same problem today. I uninstalled the free trial and it asked me if I wanted to change to avg free. Did that and all is now ok.

i have been using AVG anti-virus free edition for many years. worked wonderfully-always!
but, recently, i unistalled the old version and tried to install the new version. and the problem started.
i have tried many many times to install AVG anti-virus free edition 2015. it just does not install.
i am getting an error message:
error code: 0xC0070643
additional message: MSI engine: failed to install the product
@AVGMSI_Error 1706
An installation package for the product AVG 2015 cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'Avgx64.msi'. (0xC00706AA)
i am at my wits end. please help.
i also have an expired trial version of the AVG tune-up on the computer. should i remove it? will that sort out this mess?
