AVG anti-virus installation file mis-id'd as Acrobat file

Hi Albert,
In order to analyze it please provide us with GMER and AVG scan result export.
Thanks

Now that the installation problem is solved, AVG seems to be behaving erratically.  The newly installed application urges me to do a complete computer scan, but this is what happens:

1- The computer crashes in mid scan. Have been able to complete the scan only with computer in safe mode.  That's ok, I guess, but:

2- The report of the scan does not appear in the list of reports that displays if you click "reports," though previous ones do.  A Windows search found  the scan report, "avgrep.txt,"  at <C:\Windows\system32>

3- The final lines of the report say:
"Objects scanned     : 232759
Found infections    :  291
Found high severity :    0
Found med severity  :    0
Found info severity :  293
Fixed high severity :    0
Fixed med severity  :    0
Fixed info severity :    0"

That seems like an awful lot of infections, many more than I've ever had, and it's a system that's functioning well except for AVG issues.

4- I had the scan set to put viruses in the virus vault, but in spite of the large number of detections nothing from the date of this scan is there, though there is from previous avg scans (from before this installation)

None of this behavior makes sense to me.  Can you explain? Thanks. Must say I'm thinking of going to Avast.

I have both a GMER and an AVG scan to send you, but how do I do that?  I don't see any icons for attachment in this window.

AVG anti-virus installation file avg_gsr_stb_all_329p1_103.exe is labeled after download as Adobe Acrobat file.  When I double-click it, Acrobat attempts to open it but cannot.  So I cannot install AVG anti-virus.  File properties window says it's a "PART (.part)" file, though name ends in ".exe" as shown above.  According to file association table, PART files are assigned to Acrobat.  File association can be changed to another program but don't know to which, or if the installation file is supposed to just execute itself.

I am attempting to re-install AVG because currently installed is no longer able to update itself.

OK Albert, No probs… Pleased to see that you appear to be now sorted.

Hi Albert,
Your computer seems to be clean, according to provided result those are just locked files.
Thanks

Albert Fernandez quote 'I am attempting to re-install AVG because currently installed is no longer able to update itself'…
Albert, Which AVG product are you presently actually using? The file you've chosen to try & install is for AVG Protection (http://www.avg.com/protection).
