AVG Anti-Virus not being allowed

Hello Brendan,

I request you to not to post multiple times for the same issue as it would slow down the time for our response.
I see that you have been given a script to run on this post: https://support.avg.com/answers?id=9060N000000U8Yf .
The script given in the post should download a file.
I have sent the file to you through email now.
If the email is not found in inbox do check in spam and junk folders.

There seems to have been a recent update to AVG Anti-Virus, as the interface looks completely different. For some reason now the AVG Web Shield is OFF, and there is not live protection anymore. Per directions, when I go to Settings / Security & Privacy / General tab and try to click "allow" it doesn't work. It doesn't take. The button lights up when I press on it, but it doesn't click in and take the setting. I've even tried tabbing over to the button, but to no avail. Can you please help me turn the setting back on?

Sure, this (link) will explain you on how to run a .sh file in Mac.
Try to run the script that we sent in the email from Terminal and inform us the status.

RE: that script file… Did it work? Or no?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled already. It changed nothing.

Brenda,

Thank you for providing the information. Sudoers files means, these newly privileged user accounts will then be able to execute commands without getting permission denied errors or having to prefix a terminal command with sudo. For more details, refer this article

Regarding AVG issue, I request you to reinstall the AVG Anti Virus for Mac and check if that resolves the issue. Here are some articles with the steps to reinstall your AVG Anti Virus for Mac:

Can you please explain exactly what I'm supposed to do with this script file once I receive it?

This is what I get when I follow your directions and drag it into the window:
