Hi Bryan,
We will clarify this for you.
First we need to know what was the 'Unprotected' message was from?
Do you have the screenshot of it?
And regarding the update of the application and the virus definition, we have a setting which has automatically and manual.
Go to AVG >> Menu >> Settings >> Update >> drop down menu
Also check if the application is up to date updated (20.10)
Hi, I have had AVG anti-virus protection installed on my Windows 10 computer for maybe five years. A few days ago I had a bad virus infection which may have been introduced by Winzap driver updater as soon after updating five drivers the virus made my computer go a little berserk.
My software friend spent over seven hours watching over the scanning of the entire system by an external anti-virus programme, Trend, as he felt that the virus had affected AVG as it said that I was unprotected. The virus was found and taken out and my PC is back to normal.
I don't mind such things happening if they are just an unlucky accident.
However I don't understand why AVG had stopped working, why it had not updated itself to cope with the latest viruses and why it had not notified me of the problem.
My friend says that my AVG was out of date, very old and this rendered it useless but surely it updates itself all the time?
He says too that it had been inactive, i.e. I hadn't done a scan for a very long time but I believed that it scanned automatically as enabled? Also that it needs replacing by the latest version, surely it is intended to keep itself up to date?
It now seems to be working OK but what is to stop it working tomorrow without me knowing?
Thank you for anyone who can shed light on my queries.
I understand, but sufficient data and information is required to identify the issue.
If it occurs, kindly contact us immediately with the required information.
Thank you.
Hi Rakshith
The message from AVG said You are not protected, my friend did not take a screenshot.
AVG is up to date release 14/1/21 and 9/12/20 so it was up to date when infected.
It is set to automatically update.
Thanks
Bryan Hayes
