Hello,

I am running a MacBook Air with Mojave 10.14.6.
I have installed AVG Antivirus following the steps on the AVG site.

The File Shield is not activated.
I just see a message “We’re sorry. There is some problem on our side. We’ll fix it as soon as possible.”

I have provided full disk access to AVG.
During installation, I did not see a System Extension Blocked notification in the Security Preferences.
So, maybe some extensions are missing?

I have tried uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, with no success.

How can I get the File Shield working?

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.
I prefer to solve this without giving remote access.
I have found another antivirus that does not give me these problems, so will use that for the moment.

I will come back to you, if I decide to try again with AVG.
All the best. Colin

When I look at the steps you sent, they imply I have downloaded/run the remote support file, else I do not see Bash, AEServer, and SupportLogMeIn under Accessibility and Screen Recording.

However, to get  to that point, I need to authorize access within the terms of the agreement that AVG requests I approve.

As I explained previously, due to the secure professional information on my computer, I cannot authorize access within the AVG terms. That is why I asked if there were another way we can resolve the problem - without granting access to my computer - something I can check directly?

Thank you.

Thank you for your quick response.
I am using the free version for the moment.
As I previously mentioned, I had already enabled Full Disk Access - which I checked is still enabled.

I notice that insert image doesn't work for me on Safari; when I click Choose Image, nothing happens to enable me to find the image (Safari).
I did the same action in Firefox and it worked:

Many thanks.

Thank you for the suggestion.
Unfortunately, due to the secure professional information on my computer, I cannot authorize access within the terms of the agreement that AVG requests I approve.
Is there another way of resolving this problem?

In the interim, I have tried :

  • ensuring I have the latest security update of Mojave - version 10.14.6 (18G7016)
  • turning off my firewall and reinstalling AVG antivirus
  • turning off Gatekeeper with: sudo spctl --master-disable
  • holding down the option key to get try to get a prompt to override the security restrictions (still no prompt)
All without success.

Many thanks.

Thanks for trying to find a solution.
I followed your instructions:

  1. I uninstalled AVG Antivirus
  2. I restarted my Mac
  3. I reinstalled AVG Antivirus from your link
  4. I tried to follow the steps in your article, but:
  5. There was no “Fix All” visible to click
  6. There was no message in the Security & Privacy settings saying “System software from developer AGC Technologies CZ s.r.o. blocked from loading
  7. There was no “Open Confirmation Dialog” to add DNS proxy configurations (probably as I’m using Mojave, as I mentioned previously.)
So, let me recap and add some important points:
  1. I am using Mojave (freshly re-installed, in case there was an OS problem)
  2. I have enabled full disk access
  3. I have turned off my firewall
  4. There is no other virus checker running
  5. Do you have any ideas to get this working on Mojave?
Otherwise, I will regretfully need to move to another virus checker.
Many thanks for your help.

We're sorry to know that, Colin. If you reconsider using AVG, feel free to reach us. We'll be more than glad to help you with installing AVG Antivirus on your MAC.
