Provide the screenshot of the error that appeared for AVG Antivirus free installation.

Were you using AVG Antivirus earlier and removed it by dragging the application to trash directly?
In the Terminal window, type open /Applications/AVGAntivirus.app/Contents/Backend/utils/com.avg.uninstall.app then press Enter.
Once done with this, try installing AVG Antivirus free and inform the status here.

When trying to download avg antivirus for Mac I get an error that says: The file "avginstaller" couldn't be saved in the folder "tmp". I've tried re-installing the file but I still get the same error. Suggestions?
