AVG Antivirus GUI starts by itself

Hi East,

We are sorry to hear this.

We will help you to resolve the issue.

Let us uninstall the program using AVG Clear tool and install it again.

Use the following link for downloading the AVG Clear tool https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe

Run the file and when you get AVG clear window loading, you will get a prompt with Yes and No option. Click on "No" and then select "Uninstall" to proceed with the removal.

Restart the PC when the prompt appears and then install AVG Antivirus free as mentioned in this article https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Install-AVG-AntiVirus-Free

Keep us posted.

That fixed it!

BTW, my uncle has 6 different Windows 10 PC's and 3 of his had this same problem after the July 2 update and 3 didn't.

I also have a second PC (my work laptop) that didn't have this problem after the July 2 update.

Any idea why some of our PC's had this issue while other didn't even though they all have the same version of Windows and had the same older version of AVG Antivirus that was upgraded?

Since the July 2 AVG Antivirus FREE program update, when I boot up my PC each morning the AVG GUI interface always opens by itself and I have to close it.

Then, at random intervals during the day, it'll open by itself again and have to be closed.

Note, there's no shortcut in my Startup folder that would cause it to automatically open and, when it opens at random, it it's never in response to anything I did (in fact, it sometimes opens when I'm away from my PC doing something else.)

There are no AVG error messages or notifications when it opens.

I tired uninstalling and reinstalling the program but that didn't help.

How do I prevent the GUI interface from automatically opening by itself?

Thank you for updating the status.
We're uncertain about the cause as we haven't received customers reporting the same issue. However, performing a clean installation will fix the issue.
Have a great day. Stay safe!
