Hi Chuck,
I understand the inconvenience, let’s try to fix it together.
I suggest you to change the firewall network profile from "Public" to "Private" and check if that fixes the issue. To change this settings, please open the AVG Internet Security and click on Menu>Settings>Components>Firewall>Customize>Network profile.
Also, please Enable all the System Rules under Menu>Settings>Components>Firewall>Customize>Policies.
In case issue persists, please provide me a screenshot of the error message. Here is a link with the steps to create a screenshot: http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot . You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
While using my computer I randomly have this error message:
The connection is not private
NET:ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID
While using any browsers and safe programs the above error will pop up and lock up my computer. In order to clear this error message. I have to restart my computer then, my computer works fine for usually a extended amount of time before the error causes another computer lockup. I contacted Microsoft support about this error/problem and a support post stated that Microsoft Engineering found that AVG Antivirus is causing this error/problem and the cure is to uninstall AVG and not use it. Please let me know if AVG has a fix for this error so I am not forced to stop using AVG Antivirus
