AVG Antivirus Issues: True Key and "Resolve" sensitive documents?

Thank you, Ranjani.

Hello Donna.
We'd like to inform that AVG rates a browser add on based on the user ratings alone. If you believe the add on is safe but rated low, you can just ignore it and skip to next section.

Your second question is about a new feature called Sensitive data shield. Sensitive Data Shield secures your private data by controlling which applications and users have access to your files. When you can a virus scan using AVG, this scan detects malware, poorly rated browser add-ons, sensitive documents, and performance issues. Sensitive data shield is currently a pro feature.

When you mark a document as sensitive, it can be accessed by only the user logged into that particular Windows user account. On the feature Settings screen, you can specify which applications and users can access your files. By default, access to your documents is prohibited to users logged in to other Windows accounts in the computer.

Hi Avinash,

Where do you get these True Key user ratings?  I'd like to see any comments.

You state: By default, access to your documents is prohibited to users logged in to other Windows accounts in the computer."  Can someone outside of my computer hack into it and/or would the settings you mentioned prevent that?  For what it's worth, for various reasons, we disabled our Wifi connection and are only working off cable.

Thanks again,
-Donna

Hello Donna,

The ratings are based on behavior, shop rating, how much installed and uninstalled, etc.) and not actual user comments.

Regarding, access to your documents is prohibited to users logged in to other Windows accounts in the same computer is if you log in via guest user, one can't access the file but if they log in using your admin account or if someone knows your password , they can use it.

  1. Why does AVG Antivirus FREE strongly encourage me to remove the True Key Helper add-on from my Internet Explorer?  Everywhere I checked, True Key seems to be a good app, with which 95% of users are happy, but AVG only gave it 2 stars.  I was wondering why it didn't attach itself to my AVG Secure browser toolbar when I installed it (the browser).  Is it because AVG blocked it?

    2. AVG is also telling me that I have vulnerable sensitive documents that it wants me to resolve.  What does resolve mean?  Encrypt?  Shred?  If encrypt, how do I access the files?

    Thank you

Thank you, Ranjani.
