My own solution to this problem , after trying resets / reboots / repairs etc and weeks of hoping for an update or generally anything was. as follows .
1 Do a complete uninstall of AVG and any associated AVG products . Not even a shortcut was left on my comp .
2 ignore windows defender leave it disabled
3 Reboot the computer
4 Go to the AVG site and download and install AVG
When installed AVG asks to do a scan let it do it . The scan will take a long time to start . Don't worry it's downloading virus deffinitions . After about 10 minutes plus scan time it's up and running normally .Well mine was .

After repairing, uninstalling and reinstalling it, I contacted AVG support. The kind man on the other side, had remote access on my laptop, and tried to remove AVG with the remover tool. Then, he reinstalled AVG Internet Security and it seemed to work fine. But it was not like this. Afew hours ago, I turned on my laptop and I took the same message. I uninstalled it and reinstalled but the same message appeared again. Of course I have the AVG Internet Security Case Number. Any suggestion what to do.
Hello, since updating AVG Internet Security yesterday, I keep getting this message - "Sorry, we've crashed. Please restart your computer to re-enable your protection. If that doesn't help, try to repair your installation. Exit"
I restarted my computer multiple times, re-installed, repaired only to recive this message.
Also, a couple of times after restarting the PC was not responsive for a few minutes and I had do a hard reboot.
How to solve this problem? Is there a way to revert to last working version?
Also, this is really bad customer experience. Why was this version launched/recommended for an upgrade if it exposes the PC to a non-performing anti-virus!

Starting this morning, I noticed AVG antivirus started behaving strangely on my Windows 10 machine. File shredder didn't work (it popped up a message about the UI having a bad day!) then my internet connection cut off which I managed to bring back on after switching off AVG protection. Also after rebooting Windows several times, I noticed it would work for a few minutes then the UI would stop working with a message saying "AV Service is not responding at the moment. It seems we cannot restart the service at the moment. Please, try again later or try restarting your computer.". Can someone please help me out? Thanks.
