We're glad to look into this & help you.
Please share us the screenshot of the page (Activity monitor) in which you found that AVG is consuming much memory.
Also, let us know the version of AVG installed on your MAC (Open AVG - Click on AVG in menu bar - Select About AVG)

I have the latest AVG antivirus installed on my Mac running Sierra with 4GB ram installed. AVG is taking up all available ram causing my computer to be unusable.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times but the problem persists.
I am having to force quit AVG in order to use my computer.
