I have the same issue on my Android phone. I have contacted AVG using my phone as explained before three days. Support wrote me to to do "Device Menu -> Settings -> Apps/Application Management -> AVG Antivirus -> Tap on clear cache and clear data -> Force stop the app once."

Not working....now AVG must now wake up.

AVG Antivirus Pro  installed on Android stays forever in Updating database.

If you press Scan now - it halts at 2%, then does nothing for hours.

What is going on?
Why can't the database be updated? Should it really take that many HOURS???
