AVG: Antivirus program or spam?

I had been having some computer problems, moslty just geting old and dusty, so I took it to be repaired. After the technician asked me what anti-virus prgram I had, he laughed in my face and said I would be better off with the free Norton Anti Virus I get with my Comcast subscription. I explained I have had AVG for almost 10 years now and my subscription is through August, so I will stick with them for now. Next step of repairs he was going to bypass my video card (faulty) and has to install some softfare to utilize my Onboard Graphics blah blah blah. I got my bill the next day. He had to remove over 465 viruses and malware from my PC just to be able to install the software he needed!! This is with full protection from AVG! What am I paying for? Every time I open the interface there is more options to upgrade… hackers, performance, identity theft. I get it; but HOW could I have have so many viruses and problems with constant AVG coverage??! NICE. Thanks… for taking my $80.00 and clogging up my start-up tray with all of your crap. NOT RENEWING MY CONTRACT

Hello Mr. Kristen,

We realize the situation, but without seeing the threat results we will not be able to confirm whether they are real threats for your PC.
There are possibilities for the local technician to detect "PUP's" (Potentially Unwanted Programs) on your PC using other antivirus program.
These aren't a real threat to a PC, but they are not necessary to run on a computer.
Hence, by default this option will be disabled in AVG scan settings.
If user wish to identify these PUP's they can enable and proceed with the scan.
May I know why you haven't contacted us when AVG interface asked you to upgrade or buy?
We would have given a clarification and helped you in activating AVG subscription and make sure that your computer is completely protected by performing a advanced scan.
May I know the present status of AVG Internet Security on your computer?
