AVG antivirus report files

Hi Donald,

Thank you for posting in the AVG community forum.
We've escalated your case to our senior team. They will check your query and write back to you at the earliest as possible.
Thank you.

Hello Donald. My name is Jovana and I'm AVG senior support.
Please accept my apologies for the delay.

After consulting with our specialists, I confirmed that there are some scans and reports that you can overwrite.

To set it all up, please open AVG Internet Security and go to:

-> Menu -> Settings -> Search -> Geek Area (detailed explanation can be found at: https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlname=AVG-Antivirus-Geek-Area)

You'll see that every shield or scan has an option "If report file exists" - Append or Overwrite, and you can set it as you wish.

Regarding the rest of the reports, we appreciate your feedback about it, and we'll pass it on to the developers, but cannot guarantee anything at the moment.

However, we're thankful for your experience, and we'll do our best to continue improving in the future.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other help.

Enjoy the holidays and take care!
Jovana

I have been an Internet Security subscriber for several years.  I have two questions for you.

I run virus scans twice a week.  I have a report file created, so I can monitor the scan results.
These files are stored in ProgramData/AVG/Antivirus/report.
There used to be an option to overwrite the previous results of the scans when you set up the scans.
It is no longer an option that I can find, so I'm left with the choice of deleting the file after I've reviewed it or letting the grow as each scan result is added to the report file.
I choose to delete the file, so a new file is created with the current scan.
Is there a way I can get the "overwrite the report file" capability back?

There is a whole set of report files created by the system in the same Report file as my scans..
Below is the set of them I printed today.

When I browsed the contents of some of these report files, everyone of them contains the results of the data/system being monitored from every time the tracking/monitoring was done.   They go back years!
I don't know the what these reports show, but I do know years of the reports are not needed.
You can see all but one of them is over 120kb in size..
Can you offer an option to just overwrite these reports as well as the scans?
If not, can I just delete the report files and have them be recreated each time they are created?

I'd appreciate it if you would give me solutions to these issues.
