Hello Bill,
We apologize for the inconvenience.
The AVG Scan always depends on the data and disk size. If the HDD disk space is more, it will take time to scan. Please wait for sme time for the scan to complete and if the issue persists, you can stop the scan and initiate a new scan later.
Thank you.
Just FYI, when I chose to scan all disks including my 1TB internal and external 3TB backup drive, a full scan on a fast iMac took 3 days. DAYS. But it did complete eventually.
I recently downloaded AVG antivirus to my Macbook. Previously I used Sophos but the support was taken away by my university. When I run the 'Scan' program the AVG gets to 66% and then moves on to scan the HDD. It seems to stall. It tells me it is still scanning but nothing happens for a long time (at least half an hour). Has the scan stalled or does it just take a very long time to scan the HDD? Any advice would be helpful.
Bill.

Hello Steve,
We are sorry to know that it took 3 days to complete the scan. When you first run the scan on this drives. It will general;ly take long time, because it will scan every file and folder of the drive. Since the scan completed successfully, next time when you run the scan, it will get complete very quickly, as the files are already scanned, it will run scan on important points and node of your drive.
Thank you.
