AVG application locker

I currently have a multi-device subscription (10 devices) to AVG Ultimate. I tried that application locker to save some of my apps. I chose my bank account apps and whatsapp and locked them. But when I try to use them it required a pin code. I entered my phone's pin code but it never accepted it. 

When I again enter AVG to cancel the locks of apps it again required a pincode!? I tried to uninstall my avg to solve it, it required a pin code for my "preferences section". But I never locked preferences section. It was really embarrasing the entire day. 

I solved it by removing my subscription and turning to basic protection mode. 

Why did it ask me the pin code? What is that pin code? Anyone who has experienced it before?
