AVG applications taking up massive amount of disk space on startup

Hi, whenever I boot up my PC, applications associated with AVG always take up a massive amount of disk space, meaning it is around 100/99% for about five minutes on startup. I assume a good software company can optimise their product well so I assume there is something wrong with my PC. And suggestions?

Is it free, trial or free version?
Also have you installed the latest 2016 version of AVG?
