AVG AV Free update failure on XP machine

None of the above options worked and I'm really not interested in manually updating virus definitions.  So why do my other 2 computers (Win7 OS) on the same network update fine?  I am running AVG Internet Security 2015 (not the free version) on those other 2 computers.  Is it because they are Win 7 machines, Internet Security, or is it because we paid for the license for these 2 machines?

Hello John. Please follow this article: http://avgread.me/1J2La4e. Please feel free to contact us if you are facing any issue. Thank you.

I have the same exact situation as John (XP, did load sucessfully on Win 7 laptop, paid version, and tried all the above plus a few other AVG recommendations…also have been running AVG paid versions for over 15 yrs) and this is my second day of trying to get updatesfor the XP paid version.  I did remove 2014 before trying to load 2015…probably a mistake.  Everything installed properly, but can't download updates.

I am able to access the internet or I would not be able to post on this forum so I know that cannot be the problem.  I started noticing this problem yesterday although I was not near this XP machine on Saturday at all.  Here is my error message:

! Update failed
