AVG becoming a spambot

Hi Michael,

This isn't the experience we want you to have.
Upon checking your account, we see that you do have an active subscription of AVG Internet Security, valid till Feb 6, 2020.
As we're uncertain about the exact notification that you've received, would you be so kind to share us the screenshot of it for better clarity?

Mr Quemby, I have started a special file on this rather agressive advertising campaign that this company engages in and the only area where we are going to make a difference is where they are engaged in clearly false advertising.  I already have one confession by one of the contract workers here that one advertisement contains false information and that is helpful, but not enough.

I have done a very meticulous study of another advertising routine the company does and that one is probably the one that will be the one the various justice departments in nations around the globe will want to focus on.

But the pop-ups are not illegal if they do not display false information, so I don't have any answer for stopping the popups that are legal.  I thought I did once, but it turned out not to work.  I saw an amazing amount of spam posts in another thread about stopping popups and such in this company's products, but seems ridiculous to install software to stop popups from a company that is supposed to be creating a safer work situation on one of our computers.  Of course, some folks use their computer simply for pleasure and popups might interfere there, too.

It's good to see you took the trouble to start this thread, but I suspect that the executive folks at this company will never be informed that a customer is complaining here.

But if you are interested in the false advertising trouble, — well, I don't know if you are allowed to contact me through any forum software.  These forum platforms have become very tight about such like that, I think.

Anyway, I've gotten too wordy here, haven't I?  Just wanted to dispaly some support beyond just clicking on that thumb thing.

Just an open letter for AVG.

Stop spamming me.

I have been with you for several years and I do not know what marketing genius joined your team and decided this was the way to go, but I am now receiving so many emails and pop-ups that you have become what you are supposed to be fighting against. A free gift?? Click Here. Oh look it is a 10% discount on AVG. Really? That's like someone gifting me tires and then saying go buy the rest of the car yourself.

I would really like to stay but if you company continues to go in the direction it is, I shall be looking for protection elsewhere. I will recommend to all they do the same.

Merry Christmas,
Mike

I don't mind you posting here Marius. Nice to know others feel the same.

I will sceenshot the next one. They are marketing gimmicks that are turning me (and I am sure others) off of your product The last one was about my "anniversary" with AVG and you were giving me the 'gift' of 10% off additional coverage. You force me to click through that stuff every time I do a scan to begin with, all with verbiage designed to make me think my computer will blow up because of all the extra files you could clear out for me. That is bad enough - I do not need additional pop-ups telling me the same thing flimsily disguised as 'gifts'.

Cheers, Mike

Hi Michael,
We are sorry for the way you feel.
We see that you haven't activated your paid subscription of AVG Internet Security. Once it is activated, we can disable the campaign pop-ups appearing within the user interface. We sent you an e-mail with complete set of activation steps.
If the e-mail is not found in your inbox, do check your spam/junk folders as well. Thank you.

Yes,same story here.avg has turned really aggressive in their marketing.Spreading paranoia about all the scary things that can happen to your computer.I concider myself a person who have a normal brain activity, and I dont need to be reminded about 5 times a day, that my avg subscription has run out…Bastards.
I am disapointed that avg has turned my computer into an advertizing arena for themselves.
