AVG blocking my Thunderbird email client from AOL servers

when I installed AVG free on my new windows 11 computer, my Thunderbird email client quit receiving email from and sending email to the AOL server. AVG free worked on my old Windows 10 computer with same Thunderbird/AOL set up. It seems to work work now if I enable passive mode on AVG  free.  Is there a FIX for this?
