AVG Blocking SSL connections in Email Clients

No Sreenu, that's not an acceptable suggestion. My clients do not want anyone else accessing their PCs.

I will ask yet again, what is the fix for this problem and why is it so secret that you refuse to let me know what it is?

If you're unable to help with this then please escalate my issue to someone who can.

Jovana from AVG senior support emailed me to say that the latest AVG update should fix this problem and I can confirm that it does. It can be downloaded/installed via AVG's "Settings" -> Update -> "Check for update". The update is version 22.9.3254 dated September 13.

Hi Tom,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.
We will check and help you with this issue.
Regrettably, with recent 22.7 & 22.8 Antivirus (Windows) updates, we encounter multiple issues with the Email Shield related to sending/receiving emails via 3rd party email clients (MS Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird…). The developers are investigating the incorrect behaviors.
We have sent you an email asking you to connect with our AVG free remote technician and please reply to that email for further assistance.
Thank you.

Hi
A couple of clients of mine could no longer send nor receive emails in their email clients since the last AVG program update (version 22.8.3250). Their email clients are using the secure port numbers 993 & 465. As a workaround, I followed the advice I'd seen given by AVG Support and turned off the "Scan SSL Connections" option in the Geek Area. This cured the problem but it has also completely disabled their email scanning features. This is of course not ideal and is a worry for my clients.

Please advise if there's a proper fix I can implement for them, or if not, when will the next update be available to fix this problem?

Thanks.

I have the same problem using Windows Live Mail and AOL on a laptop running Windows 7.
I can't send or receive mail unless I turn off email sheild.
Again, this seems to have been introduced with the latest update 22.8.3250 on 19 August.

I get this message when I start Windows Live Mail:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Aol xxxxxx account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

Server: 'pop.aol.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: POP3

Thank you for writing back to us, Tom.
We have sent you an email again requesting your client to contact us back to connect to our AVG free remote support as a best way to fix this issue.
They can also reply to that email for further assistance.
Thank you.

We understand your frustration, Tom. This is definitely not the experience we wanted you to have & we're truly sorry for the discomfort this has caused.

As we mentioned in our earlier post, we're aware of this issue and our developers team are currently working towards a resolution/fix.
Meanwhile, we require AVG debug diagnostic logs from the devices(s) on which this issue is occurring, so that our developers can analyze the logs & come up with a resolution. Hence, my colleague has offered a free remote service, so that our technician can collect screenshots (of error messages received while trying to send/receive emails), debug logs & escalate the case to our senior tech support team.
Again, we're sorry for any inconvenience caused. As per your request, we've escalated this community case/thread to our higher level of support. They'll check & get back to you as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, your continued patience is very much appreciated.
Thank you for understanding in advance!
