I certainly understand this must be frustrating. Please disable the HTTPS scan setting in AVG instead of disabling the whole protection and check if that resolves the issue. If it does, consider this as a temporary fix. Our technical team is working on a permanent fix and this issue will be resolved at the earliest.
Open AVG Antivirus/Internet Security and click on Menu->Settings-> Components->Online shield->Customize->Main settings-> uncheck HTTPS scan.
