I apologize for the inconvenience. Are you using Outlook? If so please repair AVG Internet security/ AVG Protection http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-repair-AVG from the control panel and then check the status.
I am having the same problem as Dave for months now, Gmail account on Em client, when I disable AVG I can download and send all my e-mail, when I enable AVG no connection to server possible.
I have tried everything : Repaired AVG, deleted and reinstalled AVG twice now already !
If I have to disable AVG in order to receive and send email, what is the the point of having and paying for AVG ?
Every time i try to sync my gmail accounts an error message comes up stating no connection. I'm on windows 10 using em Client server.
But if i turn off AVG
i can download my gmail emails. Why is AVG blocking communication with gmail on windows 10 when it worked fine on Windows 8.1.
Any idea how to solve it?
Hello, I have version 17.6.3029, and indeed, when I disabled email protection I was able to send and receive emails …
BUT however, I really get annoyed when I cannot solve a problem
so I kept on searching , and I think I might have found the solution in the meantime. I changed the server ports in AVG: menu / settings / troubleshooting / redirect settings and changed the ports : imap port 5100 and smtp port 5200 …and it works fine now (I found that somewhere on the internet …) I hope it will keep on working this way.
maybe you can use this to help other people, cause it is very frustrating when you cannot send or receive email …

I regret for the inconvenience caused. Please let me know the version of AVG installed in your computer and also try to disable the AVG Email protection component from your computer and check if you are able to send and receive emails.
To disable AVG Web Protection:
Open AVG internet Security->Menu->Settings->Components->Web Protection.
