My webcam not only stopped working since installing AVG but I get an AVG pop u telling me that i need to update my missing drivers and to do so i need to install yet another AVG program to do that! The driver from my webcam is not missing! when i uninstall AVG the camera works just fine. This is terrible AVG. I thought you were one of the few security providers that were honest!

Hello Yonathan,
Sorry to know that you have issues with applications after installing AVG.
Have you installed 2017 version of AVG in your computer?
If so,please disable individual components of AVG and check which component is blocking your applications.
Use the following instructions to disable AVG components : Open AVG Zen -> Click on Anti-Virus Free -> Click on "Menu" -> Settings -> Disable all components (Resident Shield, Software Analyzer and Email Protection (Disable Until restart)).
Thank you.

Hi Alexandre,

We understand your concern and apologize for the inconvenience caused. We request you to submit the Application for Whitelisting. Here is a link to our AVG Whitelisting Service : http://www.avg.com/us-en/whitelist

Thank you!

I am experiencing a similar issue and would like to know when this will get fixed. What's strange is that Microsoft Camera app in Windows 10 can access the camera, but another non-Microsoft application that I am using can not.

I have a similar issue. My webcams  have stopped working when using OpenCV with both QT and Visual Studio 2015. Also the Microsoft Lifecam software version 3.6 that comes with the webcams no longer works. This is an issue with AVG and Avast. Uninstalling AVG and Avast fixes this issue. Please fix. Thanks

Hello Viktor,

Hello,

I am creating a program with Qt on Windows using OpenCV for people with disabilities and using a webcam. When I launch the program, sometimes, the webcam won't start. I spent many hours on this and I finally pinpoint the problem to "AVG Protection". About 50% of the time I launched the program, I was receiving empty frames (the webcam opened succesfully but the frames were empty). With AVG Protection uninstalled, it works 100% of the time. Even if I tried disabling AVG antivirus the sometimes my frames were empty. I really had to uninstall AVG Protection.

I tried adding the program in the AVG exceptions but it did not change anything.

What could I do ? I want to deploy my application to other people and the basic solution "don't use AVG" does not seem good.

Thank you very much,

Alex

To me it happens the same with other applications, when I have installed avg the desktop applications that use the camera do not give me image, and when I uninstall avg they work without problems

Hello Chris,

They are working on it with high priority and it will be fixed in the future updates.
Thank you.

AVG make no mistake about it you guys clearly crossed a line and infringed upon perhaps a legal matter blocking the use of hardware, and limiting software functionality in legit software that has valid signatures. You are essentially controlling software through a white/blacklist from your company where customers have no control over or any kind of setting in the program. You are stepping in legal shit and each day longer it takes for you to fix it the shit smells worse and worse

SHAME ON YOU AVG !!!

thanks, I'll inform my users about Passive mode
