Hello Jerry,
Let me point you to the right direction.
Go to AVG >> Menu >> Settings >> Full Protection >> System Rules
In that list, enable the ''Allow windows file and printer sharing" and click continue.

Check if you are able to use the printer now.
I recently purchased a new Brother L8900CDW printer. There is just one problem I am having right now and that is that AVG is blocking scanning from the printer. I have read a bit and know that I need to unblock UDP port 54925. I have went to "Hacker Attacks > Enhanced Firewall > Firewall Options > Application Rules" and added an exception to allow that port. It still will not allow me to scan to the PC, The AVG log is showing all the things it is blocking when I go to "Hacker Attacks > Enhanced Firewall > Firewall Options > Logs". If I disable AVG security it allows me to scan files no problem. Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction where I could fix this?
I probably should have mentioned it in the original post that yes I have both "File and Printer Sharing" as well as "Allow Remote Desktop Connections To This Computer" enabled. It is still blocking all scans from the printer. Thank you very much for your reply. I wish that would have been the cure.
