AVG blocks Windows 10 internet browsing

I am having the same problem as all the above. After many hours on the phone with Microsoft support they eventually figured out AVG is the problem. They advised me to completely turn off AVG and use Windows Defender which I don't want to do. I am  incredibly frustrated and would appreciate your clear instructions on how to fix this situation.
