Hi Sid! If you have previously used Google Chrome (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18j8DpWx62lQqCzNiVpbc8nLL87vj6f7HjCy7keNaP_w/edit#gid=0)  and now want to add www.dailymail.co.uk to the blacklist in the AVG browser to block pop-ups, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the AVG browser on your device.
  2. In the top-right corner of the browser window, you'll see a menu icon. It typically looks like three vertical dots. Click on it.
  3. From the drop-down menu that appears, select "Settings" or "Options."
  4. Look for a section called "Privacy & Security" or "Site Settings." Its exact location may vary based on the version of AVG browser you have.
  5. Once you find the privacy or site settings section, navigate to the option related to pop-ups or ads. Click on it to access the pop-up settings.
  6. Within the pop-up settings, there should be an option to manage exceptions or block specific websites. This feature allows you to add websites to the blacklist.
  7. Look for the option to add a new site to the blacklist and click on it.
  8. A field will appear where you can enter the website address. Type "www.dailymail.co.uk" (without quotes) in the field or follow the provided instructions to add the website.
After entering the website address, save or apply the changes to ensure that www.dailymail.co.uk is now blocked from displaying pop-ups in the AVG browser.

Hi Sid,

We're glad to look into this & help you.
The possiblity for this to happen could be the Adblock feature might be disabled.
Adblock stops advertisements from loading on the webpages you visit, which improves the speed and safety of your browsing sessions. Adblock is enabled by default.
For better clarity, share us the screenshot of the pop up that you receive.
To enable/disable this feature, go to the Security & Privacy Center and click the slider on the Adblock tile so that it changes from green to gray or vice versa.

I have been using the AVG browser for about 6 months and always loved the protection it gave from annoying pop-ups. I have always used Google Chrome in the past. For the last 2 weeks my AVG browser is allowing certain pop-ups to appear for example www.dailymail.co.uk. How can I add www.dailymail.co.uk to my blacklist on AVG browser as the pop-ups are my bane? AVG prior to this has been very good at blocking all pop-ups.

Thank you for the step by step (idiot proof) answer. Just not good with computers and when i get frustrated cannot see the woods for the trees

I appreciate your efforts, Sid.

I have sent an email for additional support to check about this issue. Please check the email and follow the instructions.

Hello Sid,
We can understand the situation on your part. We're glad that your browser is working fine.
To navigate through Security and Privacy senter, open AVG Secure Browser > Click Menu (3 dots at the top left corner of the window) > Select 'Security Privacy Center' and check if Adblock is enabled.
If we can be of more help, please let us know.

I have tried looking on the AVG software but unable to find Security & Privacy. I realised my mistake and looked on the browser. I am not good at computing and stuff. Anyway went on the settings and found Privacy and settings. I did not find any buttons to enable/disable. Please note i am not good at computers and sometimes my brain gets fried when i try to do this type of instructions. I have somehow went on advanced and reset everything. At the moment the browser seems to be working faster.
