Hi everyone. I am no computer-shark, and I can not write very good English so forgive me if my description of the problem, is not perfect.
By mistake I opened a zip file attached to a spam mail. I conducted a full scan of whole computer with AGV FREE, but it did not find this file. I therefore sought by file number (I could see the bottom of the spam mail) and the search found file stored in the C: / user / myname / AppData / Local / Temp. (I have NOT unpacked this zip file).
I right-clicked on it to identify it with AVG and AGV described the threat as "Virus found JS / Downloader.Agent.52_6, Severity: High, Condition: unsolved."
When I've tried to shred the file with AVG, I got this message: "Sorry, we can not shred this file. You do not have appropriate access rights to shred it."
There are no additional instructions (from AVG) regarding this situation, so what do I do now?
I'm lost, and I dare not use either the computer or mail, as long as this file is there and lurking.
I am really surprised that AVG has not found this thread throughout the computer scan …
Where can I find information about what I should do now? Thanks in advance.
Hello Anina,
We apologize for the inconvenience.
To assist you better, we suggest you to send us the screenshot (http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot) of the file and error message you received from AVG?
Thank you.
Hello Anina,
Thank you for providing the screenshot. It seems that the threat is detected from the file in your temp folder. The temp folder is a temporary folder in your computer. You can remove this file manually from the temp folder and see if that fix the issue. Please open the "Run" window in your computer and type as temp, you can see a window with list of files open. Please select all and remove everything from your computer. This should remove the affected file as well.
Thank you.
