AVG causing certain websites to not load

Hi Rahees,

I tried both and neither option worked, although the last update was September 10th so the update was definitely needed. Once I realized the web shield is the problem I played around with the settings and found if I deactivated https scanning, everything worked perfectly.

Simply adding any of the websites to exceptions had no effect. It's puzzling because the work computer I was using as a control has the exact same connection with the same AVG (also updated) without this issue.

Anyway at least I've found a workaround.

Thanks a lot!

Frankie

I'm not sure if this was related to your issue specifically, but Windows update kb5045934 for .net causes slow and unresponsive google sites when AVG is turned on. Just discovered the problem this morning. Turning off AVG or uninstalling the update will immediately fix it.

I've been dealing with Wi-Fi connectivity problems for the past few weeks and finally had a breakthrough today.

I’m using a Dell laptop with Windows 11 and an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz wireless card. Initially, I thought the issue was related to DNS, as my connection kept dropping. After updating the BIOS and downloading the latest Intel drivers (from Intel’s website), the disconnection issue improved, but certain websites like Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Substack, and even YouTube were still either not loading or taking 10-30 seconds to open.

To troubleshoot, I connected another computer with similar specs to the same network, and everything worked fine. After resetting the network settings and setting the IP/DNS to automatic, Rogers suggested that I deactivate AVG Web Shield. As soon as I did that, all the websites loaded instantly!

Now my question is: has anyone else experienced this with AVG? I can't seem to turn off Web Shield for more than 4 hours, and I don’t want to leave it off permanently. Is there a way to fix this without completely disabling Web Shield?

In summary, AVG Web Shield was causing the slow website loading, and while disabling it temporarily fixes the issue, I’m looking for a permanent solution. Any ideas?

Btw I added Ahrefs, Substack, Google & Youtube to the list of exceptions but it makes no difference. The only way I can visit those sites is by deactivating web shield. I downloaded the most recent version and restarted my computer but the issue persists.
