AVG causing File Explorer to not open

Hi,

Well, yes… I would guess that would fix it.

Being a coder myself though, thats not really a great 'fix'.

If you do things like this, then you never fix the real problem, and your product just becomes full of bugs. :frowning:

Doesnt give me confidence that you can support and fix your software much :frowning: And… with alot of developers just saying this more and more nowadays, I just spend my time unistalling and reinstalling software all the time :frowning:

Hello Rob,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
We understand how something like this can really try your patience.
We would request you to run AVG remover tool to completely remove AVG and then re install it.
Please  click this link http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe to download and "Run" the AVG Remover tool.
1. Please select the AVG products which are shown in the remover tool window and then start removal process.
2. After the remover tool process is successfully finished, restart your computer.
3. After the restart,  manually delete the AVG Remover folder in the C drive of My computer.
To reinstall please follow the article http://avgclick.me/InstallFree .

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm using Windows 10, with AVG Free Antivirus. All updated to current versions.

avgsetupx.exe seems to be causing a problem with 2 of my systems.

Since a few days ago, atleast once a day, my PC starts getting problems. Mainly, the FileExplorer icon on my task bar, stops working. Clicking it just does nothing, rather than launching explorer.exe

Explorer works fine, if I start it other ways, like direct links on my desktop. Its just the icon on the task bar that doesnt work.

Also, AVG becomes totally unresponsive, if I try to click on it from the icons window, it doesnt show my the UI.

After a few days, I've realised that when this happens the 'avgsetupx.exe' process is always running in my task manager.

If I end that task, then suddenly lots of Explorer windows pop up (one fro every time I've tried to click the icon before).

Then everything is fine until it randomly happens again.

I see that avgsetupx.exe has a modified time of 31/05/2016… This is when it probably started happening, I'm guessing after an update from you.

Any log files or anything I can look at to see what is happening, or anyone have any ideas?

Its happening on 2 of my PCs, so its not 'that' specific to a single PC.

Thanks, Rob Donovan.
