AVG causing my system to overheat

Hello Patrick,
We regret the inconvenience caused. Did you remove Avast before installing AVG? Please let us know the exact name of all AVG programs you have installed. Thank you.

I have a Dell Inspiron N5040 that upgraded itself to Windows 10 a couple days ago. This is the only issue I have…when AVG AntiVirus Free runs a full scan my laptop overheats and shutsdown. I have tried it at Medium and Fast priority…any suggestions? Should I remove AVG and start again?

Hello Patrick,
It is not recommended to install and use multiple anti-virus programs on a computer to avoid conflicts of each other. The conflicts between them may lead to system instability, crash your computer, slow performance and waste system resources. Each anti-virus will often interpret the activity of the other as a virus and there is a greater chance of them alerting you to a "False Positive". If one finds a virus and then the other also finds the same virus, both programs will be competing over exclusive rights on dealing with that virus. Thereby using the system resources unwantedly.
They will try to kill each other. Because antivirus programs search your system for programs that are monitoring and sending information about your system, a competing antivirus program that is monitoring and sending information about your system tends to look like a virus, so it will attempt to block it and remove it. Could you please confirm whether you have Avast active in your pc?
Thank you.

When i run the full system scan my computer overheats and shuts down. I switch from Avast to AVG and now it looks like i should have kept Avast. I would like to keep AVG so do you have have any suggestions ?
thanks pat
p.s  I switch from Avast to AVG but now with this problem and the total lack of support it seems i made a mistake at least Avast has customer support for its free users.
