AVG products are sold as subscriptions and remain valid until you cancel them. We try to be clear about this both before and after your purchase, and we explain how to cancel subscriptions in various places, including:
- In our shopping cart before purchase
- In the confirmation email we send after purchase
- In notification emails we send before charging for subsequent subscription periods
We understand that people may overlook these things, and emails might end up in spam folders. So we sincerely apologize if you didn’t know that you’d subscribed and that we’d be charging you again to extend your subscription.
Can't believe that a company as supposedly well respected as AVG would charge my card without my authorisation.
They've created a subscription without my authorisation based on an abandoned cart. So even though I didn't complete the cart, they have taken two years of subcriptions! I didn't double check last year, but have just discovered that this goes through automatically every year until you disable it if you make the payment through Paypal (which I did).
Speechless.
Totally outrageous behaviour. Not just unethical, it's also illegal in the UK.
