Hello Layton,
We're sorry to know about the inconvenience that you experienced with our AVG Ultimate product.
Firstly, we recommend not to share the activation code on a public post.
We would like to know whether you used our AVG remover tool to delete the old version traces of AVG?
We believe that you would have used only the AVG clear tool which will actually remove the new version traces.
May I ask what is the exact error that you get after crash?
It would be easier to gather more information, if you contact our technical team using this https://support.avg.com/support_tech_chat link.
With the greatest of respect and gratitude to you for trying to help me to seek a remedial answer to the problem, you state that it should not have happen as a result of the avg but even if the problem was brought about by legacy/residual avg software it is still ultimately avg that has caused me major problems. I have now lost all confidence in the avg product and will not be taking the risk of crashing my pc again having just restorred it to the highest operating condition that I have not experienced for years. It is very unfortunate that your upgrade software may have failed to fully deleted the initial installation prior to re-installing the new updated version this possibly may have prevented such a major headache for me and possibly countless other customers. Just to let you know, I have a degree in computer science.
ABout a month ago one of my computers updated to 1903 and crashed with the rebooting problem and every time I competly reloaded the system and install AVG ultimate 64bit it crashed, no residual AVG on the system. I removed the 64bit AVG and the system is fine.
Todaye one of my computers updated to Windows 1903 that had AVG Ultimate on it and immediately rebooted with the same failure. The problem is AVG Ultimate 64 bit.
You are also going to loose me as a longtime customer.
I currently have a two-year licence and have been using the full version of AVG for many years and to be honest having paid for a full licence I have always been disappointed that other software I require to fully protect and enhance my windows 10 Pro 64bit PC has to be purchased as an extra.
BUT the reason why I am writing today is regarding a far more serious problem, AVG is causing my system to enter into an infinite repair loop due to it failing to correctly boot. I have completely re-format and re-built the system several times but each time it suffered the exact same problem.
I traced the cause of the problem to the AVG by systematically loading each application and rigorously preforming restarts, as soon as I loaded AVG the PC entered into the repair loop which again I was unable to escape.
After many hours I managed to get my system to sort of work with AVG by disabling both the safe boot and the recoverenabled flag, but again once I re-loaded the latest windows update the pc crashed but this time with recoverenabled and secure boot disabled I was able to reset the pc back to an earlier restore date rather than having to completely format and rebuild the system from the ground.
I have subsequently loaded another AV which works faultlessly, it is almost seamless to the systems operating speed, it's not asking for extra hidden application purchases and it works fine with all the latest M/S updates plus it works with the safety features “secure boot and recoverenabled active.
Needless to say, I will never be recommending AVG again and will never be buying another licence.

Hello John,
This shouldn't happen due to AVG. There are chances for this to happen due to old traces of AVG.
Hence, we request you to run AVG remover and clear tools as mentioned here in-order remove AVG traces.
Install your AVG Ultimate as mentioned in this article and check the status.
Keep us posted.
This has happened to me! I am struggling to access my computer. Pls help

Hi Andy,
We are sorry to hear this.
Please elaborate your issue in a separate post.
This will help us to locate your account and proceed further.
John, we realize the situation, but as far as our knowledge this might have happened due to the old version or traces of it.
However, if this happens with the latest version too, we will be able to analyze and find a fix for it.
We are sure that this will not happen with the latest version of AVG.
