AVG Cleaner using mobile data

My phone shows that AVG Cleaner Pro used 500mb of my mobile data in 3 days.  That is 33% of my monthly dataplan.  There does not appear to be any settings to limit mobile data usage for the app or to set it to only use wifi.  I can't afford that type of usage so had to uninstall.  Does anyone know if it is scanning cloud storage?  That is the only thing i can think it would be scanning to generate that much data usage.
