Avinash,
that will be good to know for future events, thank you for sharing. Following the directions prompted by AVG clear is not a mistake I will make again. Do you know of any steps I can take to work around my current forced safe mode problem?
thank you for your time,
Arthur
OS: Windows XP SP3
Hello,
My AVG install was corrupted, so I ran AVG removal. It did not completely remove AVG so i then ran AVG clear--not in safe mode. Then AVG clear asked me to reboot into safe mode and I said yes, only to find out that the password I have does not work to log into safe mode. I have tried restarting, shutting down and rebooting, using F8 and telling Windows to boot normally, but nothing allows me to forgo the forced safe mode required by AVG clear.
Any help you can provide is appreciated. Thank you for your time,
Arthur
Hello Arthur,
We’d like to know more about what’s happening with your computer login.
May I know if it's asking Microsoft login password while rebooting normal/safe mode now? Are you able to get into Windows Safe mode?
If possible, please share a picture of your computer login page (which is asking password). You can take a picture of your computer using mobile phone.
You can post the picture here on your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
Regards,
Alok.

Arthur, may I know status of your PC after using AVG clear tool?
Balasubramanian,
yes you may. it forces me to boot into safe mode regardless of what i do. I've used f8 and tried last known good configuration, boot windows normally, and 640x480 boot, and they all just forced safe mode. i cannot log into my computer because I do not have an Admin password.
I am looking for a work around of the forced safe mode because i cannot log into the computer.
thank you for your time,
Arthur
Arthur,
I appreciate your patience and efforts so far. It could be possible if the Safe boot option is selected on your System configuration, so it may force you to restart the PC in safe mode. Please open Run command (Windows key + R key ) and type "msconfig". In the Boot option, check if the "Safe mode" is selected or not. If yes, please unselect it and boot your computer in normal mode.
Bhuvaneswari,
I appreciate your suggestion; I did not think to check msconfig. This will be useful in the future if I run into a similar issue where I can log into my machine.
I must not be making the problem clear. Please refer to my last comment in this thread where I say "I am looking for a work around of forced safe mode because I cannot log into my computer". I do not have a correct Admin password for safe mode. I cannot boot into the comptuer to run msconfig. Is there a way to run msconfig without logging on to the computer?
Thank you for your time,
Arthur
Arthur, we request you to click 'No' when the AVG Clear prompts you to restart Windows in Safe Mode.
