AVG compatibility with NetNanny

Hi Bob,

Thank you for letting us know about the status. Could you tell me if you're using a Paid/Free version of AVG?

I have set up a Windows 10 PC for use by my grandchildren, a teenager and a preteen.  I installed Net Nanny and it seems to work nicely to keep them out of places that they should not be.
Installed AVG Anti-Virus, and wind up with browser activity being severely restricted.  We cannot even get the base google.com page to come up to do a search with.  Also cannot access other common sites: apple.com for example.
Discussed with Net Nanny support, they suggested uninstalling AVG and Net Nanny, reinstalling Net Nanny, and then installing AVG without web filter. Did that, and had no luck.
With AVG entirely uninstalled, all is good, can do internet searches and access websites.
With AVG installed, back to severely restricted situation.  Has anyone else had this type of a problem?

Hi Paul,

I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Could you tell me which AVG Program did you install on your computer? Also, have you reinstalled the AVG Program without the Web Shield component? If not, please try to disable Web Shield and check if that fixes the issue.

To disable Web Shield, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Double-click the AVG icon on your desktop to open AVG.
  2. Click on Menu>Settings>Components
  3. Please disable the Online Shield component by clicking on the Slider beside Customize option.

I also suggest you check if you have added any Websites to Site Blocking. You can check them here: Menu>Settings>Components>Web Shield>Customize>Site Blocking.

I'm using a paid version of AVG with Zen and multiple users.  I'm also using a paid version of netnanny.

Thank you for the information.
Since you are a paid user, contact us using this link: https://support.avg.com/support_tech_chat?l=en to get further assistance on this matter.

I'm having the same issue.  I disabled web shield and it did not help.  Netnanny has told me they work with AVG and Windows 10.
