AVG components showing "Inactive"

I may have gotten some malware that shut off AVG. All components show "inactive"; AVG Tune-up is ok, but I get error code 0xe001f94e when try to-install AVG Ultimate. I used Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to remove some malware and potential malware because I couldn't find AVG scanner. Then I found AVG scanner and ran it and it reports everything ok, but all AVG components still say "Inactive"
