AVG constantly crashes, no new software has been installed to my PC.

After following AVGs instructions I found myself unable to login to my computer.
I made a phone call to AVG, they informed me that I had followed their instructions and it was my fault. AVG offered no solutions.
AVG passed me to five different departments, or so they told me. The last one hung up the phone.
Let’s be clear, the AVG software should not conflict with any software.
Yes, I have uninstalled and reinstalled AVG, tried to repair etc.
And yes AVG still crashes leaving my computer vulnerable.
So, after many years of using AVG I now find myself looking for an alternative anti-virus software.
As I said I have already tried that using the AVG uninstall tool. the issue remains.
AVG also gets stuck on smart scan when it reaches performance issues.
