AVG crashes third party program that I require for my business

Hi Joyson,

Thanks for your reply but I should have placed in my initial comments that I have already placed all the folders (program files, programdata), and files (service .exe's and application .exe's, along with the SQL .ldf's and .mdf's database files) in the exceptions section but it makes no difference. AVG still causes the program to crash and it is only when you use the option that states 'disable AVG entirely' for a period of 10-15 minutes or till restart that it will allow the third party program to run. If you would like to contact the third party company you can do so on the gatekeeper@farmplan.co.uk. I have found on other forums that you are crashing Sage Accounts and ACT which also run on top of Microsoft SQL Server databases so it would appear that all programs that use SQL are being given a headache by AVG.

Hello Andy, I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you are currently experiencing. Please add your GateKeeper Program to the AVG Exceptions by following the instructions in this link and check if it's working - http://avgread.me/1UR7MIS . Thank you.

I am a farmer and run the industry leading product GateKeeper Crop Recording package and have recently had to uninstall AVG as it was clearly crashing and preventing parts of this third party program from working. GateKeeper runs on top of a Microsoft SQL Server database engine and I am told utilises Microsoft .Net Framework heavily by support.
I was unable to add text in to the mapping part of the program and also add the rate of the chemical in the jobs section. I was shown by the support technican at GateKeeper that it was clearly AVG that was causing the issue and he proved this while logged on by disabling AVG and everything worked again. After a restart or re-enabling AVG GateKeeper crashed again when carrrying out the operations above I have already stated.

My question is why? what is it that GateKeeper could be doing that AVG does not like? Also why is it that when I disable each individual aspect of AVG it makes no difference to GateKeeper and yet when I click the disable AVG entirely it does. Are the advanced options only encompassing certain aspects of the protection and not allowing the user to modify all of the AVG utilities?
