AVG Crashes Upon Computer Start-Up and Will Not Reload

Anti-virus crashes a few seconds/minutes after starting computer. I get a message telling me that my computer is unprotected. When I try to launch AVG enable protection I get a message indicating that it has crashed and needs to reload. It fails the reload and indicates that I need to restart. Restarting my computer just repeats the process. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, but that still produces the same result. Any help/guidance is appreciated.
