AVG deleted FreeRIP MP3 - Is this a false positive?

Thanks for the replies.
I was able to install the software by temporarily disabling the software, have added it to the exception list, and submitted a false positive report to AVG.

Hello,

AVG just deleted FreeRIP MP3 off my PC, saying that it had Malsign.Generic.1CO.

I've had the FreeRIP software for years without problem, the last version was  dated around July of this year, and so it's been scanned as clean a number of times previously.

In case it helped I tried going to the FreeRIP website to download the latest version, but AVG blocks the installer, saying it's got the same infection. I've tried clicking on 'Allow' but despite saying it's been added to the exceptions list, it won't let me install again.

Does anyone know if this threat is real, or is it a false positive?

What's the solution?

Any help / advice gratefully received!

Thanks,

Piers.
