AVG deleting passwords in ms EDGE

Hello Charlie,
Thank you for contacting AVG.
We're sorry to hear that you're facing this trouble, we regret the inconvenience this may have caused.
We will certainly look into it and help you.
Adding the Edge browser in the AVG allow app list would permit access to the Edge browser and exclude it from scanning the application behavior.
May I know do you confirm that AVG causing this issue?
We'd recommend you to disable the AVG Internet Security/AVG AntiVirus protection and check the status.

Yes AVG is causing the issue
I tried many methods to resolve the missing password issue.
Delete all extension in Edge, reinstalled Edge, played with many Microsoft edge options, Added and imported passwords, ETC
When I tried disabling AVG the password issue went away but returned when I re-enable AVG.
So I tried all the obvious AVG options till I found that the “Allow apps” list option resolved the missing password issue, but left AVG (partially) enabled.

Note: A partially enabled Internet security is only good for bad reviews on independent review sites.

I am having this same issue.
Passwords in Edge disappear when password protection is enabled in AVG, when I disable password protection in AVG they reappear.
Please keep me in the loop for solutions.

Dear AVG Staff
Below are some screen shots from the options in my AVG internet security.
The issue of passwords being deleted goes away when I add MS Edge to the “Allow app” list specifically using the “Password protection” option under the three dot “Change allowed features” menu. The other options in this menu don’t seem to have any affect,
I assume I have not tried all option as I don’t work for AVG and don’t want to spend any more time than necessary just to use my web browser in the normal manner.

I can confirm that totally disabling AVG also resolves the issue. Could you please advise what steps I would have to take to ensure your company does not charge my credit card if I stop using your service?

Why did this happen

I have recently been having trouble with MS Edge’s password files going missing and not being able to reload (import) the data. After much trial and error I found the issues is with AVG’s password protection. Only after adding MS Edge to AVG’s “Allowed Apps” list for password protection was I able to use MS’s passwords manager in the normal manner. To be clear I needed to “allow” MS edge to access its own files. I am now concerned that I might once again have to spend several hours fixing AVG interference with my ability to access normal browsing function.

This isn't the experience we want you to have, Charlie.
From your message, it seems the MS Edge is being blocked from accessing passwords (protected files). In this regard, we'd suggest you to follow the steps in this article to check & remove blocked app if MS Edge is listed in it.

Charlie, we understand your situation. Before proceeding with the troubleshooting, we just wanted to ensure whether the Edge browser is not listed in the block list.
From your reply, we realize how you closely looked into the issue. We'd like to appreciate your effort taken to resolve this matter.
I would like to inform that AVG Password Protection in AVG Internet Security offers an additional security layer for your Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browser by protecting your sensitive login data, notifying you about password leaks, and advising you about the security level of passwords stored in your browser. This feature will not directly work in the Microsoft Edge browser, however, other AVG features in AVG Internet Security will keep you protected online.
I request you to disable the AVG Internet Security components one by one and narrow down the specific AVG shield which might cause this issue.
