I hear from others sources that AVG are happy to sell on your browsing history and other things to 3rd parties. Is this true for paid up AVG users ?
Hi Peter,
Yes, there is "from our free offerings" that means only free users are affected by change.
Thanks
Alan, yes, and although fine words, I remain conccerned at the para :
"We collect non-personal data to make money from our free offerings so we can keep them free, including:Advertising ID associated with your device;
Browsing and search history, including meta data;
Internet service provider or mobile network you use to connect to our products; and
Information regarding other applications you may have on your device and how they are used."
I've no idea what "Advertising ID of my device" is, but I would consider anything specific to my device to be very personal, yet AVG classify it under "non personal". The only way to make money is to sell things, so what are they selling that needs my ID ? Since I am a paid up subscriber, I feel I should be able to turn off this support for the 'free' version, and would like to avoid being sprayed with specific advertising just after visiting a site - so Big Brother…
It's all a trust game and I am not totally convinced !
