AVG Document protection

I understand your concern. Please open AVG Internet Security installed in your computer and click on "Hacker Protection" tab. From here select "Ransomware Protection", you can see an option "Allow/Block" list. From here check if MS Word and MS Excel shows in blocked list, if it is, please remove the same and add them to Allow list. Once you add this programs to allow list, you will not have any problem and these programs will work as usual.

Hi, The problem is the computer is only running AVG free antivirus not internet security so those settings are not avaliable. I dont understand why it is acting like it has ransonware protection at all.

AVG Free seems to be acting like AVG internet security. It pops up an window that it has protected my files when I open a word or excel file from my documents folder.Says it is detected by ransomware protection. Whether I choose to allow or block the app (Word or Excel starter 2010) it changes the file to read only and anything I try to put in the my documents folder goes to read only. How can this be fixed? I have scanned the computer with AVG, spyware and ransomware detection tools and found no infections. Running Windows 7 Pro. Please help.

I got it fixed. Did a complete uninstall and reinstall of AVG and it works fine. Thanks for your help.
