That link is for Windows.  He states in the article that he has Mac.

Hi. I'm running an iMac, Yosemite 10.10.5. The last two consecutive scans have unexpectedly closed just on the point of completion and AVG has dropped out. At about 89% completion the scan showed 3 viruses, but the scan continued until 99% was reached when AVG vanished. Restart was back to the beginning. Any ideas would be gratefully received! With thanks.
