Sometimes, this might happen if the service required to launch the user interface is unable to initiate.
However, you can be rest assured that the AVG services will be running in background, in order to protect your computer.
In this regard, we'd suggest you to try repairing AVG program once to check if it helps.

I am concerned that it is not offering protection as it seems to be inactive
I am fully paid up

Hi - Thanks, I did not pick up the blue highlight link for the repair.
However, I did just now and I completed the repair as you advised.
After restarting, AVG is there in full and I can scan the computer myself as before.
Problem sorted, thanks, but I have no idea why it went away in the first place…

But I have no clue as to how to repair AVG program. Do you have indtructions for that?
It is good to know that AVG is still working in the background, but I cannot access the user interface to do a regular scan as I was able to do previously.
