Please be informed that the AVG program's are only compatible with Windows Xp service pack 3 and above versions. Could you please confirm if your PC has the Windows XP service pack 3 and above version, If so please follow the instructions on the article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-reinstall-AVG to reinstall all the traces of the AVG program and check whether it resolves the issue.
Note : Please use the AVG Remover tool mentioned on the article to uninstall the AVG program more effectively.

Since installing AVG Driver Update my PC has become very unstable, doing auto-restarts without warning and requiring active desktop restore after each restart. I note that the installation of Driver Updater removed my existing Anti Virus Free version forcing me to install the current latest version, and this appears to be incompatible with Windows XP. Is this a deliberate strategy to force users of Anti Virus free version to update to a paid version? Is the current Anti Virus free version compatible with Windows XP? Is the current Anti Virus free version compatible with Driver Updater and PC Tune Up. I feel badly let down by purchase of AVG Driver Updater.
