Hello Linda.
We're here to help. We'd like to confirm that this is a false detection. To resolve this issue, disable real time protection temporarily in Windows defender, install AVG Driver Updater, add the file " C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG Driver Updater\AVG Driver Updater.exe" to Windows defender exceptions. Then enable real time protection.

To disable Microsoft Defender and Smart screen as described below:
- Open "Windows protection" app or "Windows defender security center" (WIN - Windows protection)
Under tab "Virus & threat protection":
- Virus & threat protection settings - "Manage settings"
- Switch off Real-Time protection
Under tab "App & browser control", disable (set "Off") following section:
- Check apps and files
- Smart screen for Microsoft Edge
- Smart screen for Microsoft Store apps

To Add exclusion for Driver updater: 
Open "Windows protection" app
Tab "Virus & threat protection"
- Virus & threat protection settings - "Manage settings"
- Exclusion - "Add or remove exclusion"

HI, I have just bought AVG driver update, but when I try to download it and run, it is blocked by Smartscreen filter, because is has a virus!  What should I do now, please
