I attempted to use the restore point in AVG, as stated above, but it caused my machine to lock up upon re-start. When it came back up, the devices were not installed, and had to be manually removed through device manager, then I ran Search for New Hardware, which got me rudimentary drivers, and back on track to install new drivers using Dell's update software.
I'll be seeking the refund.
Thank you for the rapid response. I do appreciate it.
Cheers
Hello Ken,
I regret for the inconvenience caused. This issue might have caused if one of the update for any certain driver got failed and that must have caused a system failure. If you have any such problem again, you can restore the drivers to previous version from AVG Driver Updater itself, using the "Restore" option and selecting the recently updated driver and restoring them. If you are not satisfied with this product, you can certainly get refund for this purchase of AVG Driver Updater from this link https://support.avg.com/RefundForm. However, I suggest you to give another try for AVG Driverr updater and check if everything works fine. You can send your feedback on AVG products from this link http://avgclick.me/AVGfeedback and it reaches the concerned team. If you face any difficulties, feel free to contact us.
I ordered and installed AVG Driver Updater for a 2 year subscription after it said I had out-of-date drivers. My Dell Update said I was OK, but they haven't updated drivers since I got this thing 6 months ago, so I trusted AVG.
It deleted several drivers (Audio, WiFi, Intel Graphics, etc.) and went to re-install them, and all the updates crashed. When I went back to the restore point, the machine crashed several times. I tried to use Reset, but still the drivers were corrupted or gone, and my audio was completely uninstalled.
I have everything working again, but I am a mite cheesed off. Is there any way I can get my money back, and is there any way I can give information to AVG to ensure this doesn't happen to someone else. Is this a known issue, or what? I uninstalled the application, and do not wish to try it again.
If there are any suggestions on perhaps my doing something wrong, let me know. I've only been working with computers since Z-DOS and CP/M on a Heathkit H100 machine I built myself in 1983. In other words, GRRRRRR.
I REALLY hate this subscription-based business model, and buying "Ultimate" and finding everything else is EXTRA. I have been using AVG for years, and have generally been happy with it. This is changing. I try to be fair, but this experience was infuriating.
Thank you.
Thanks again for the rapid response(s), and I appreciate being given the opportunity to seek a refund in the first place. Sometimes, things just don't work out. Besides, I am not displeased at all with the AV product or the customer service. The driver product, though, needs some work on being compatible with Dell and other machines that use proprietary device management. The business model could go in another direction, too. I ditched a Microsoft product I've been using for decades because they tried to go with "software as a service." I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Again, the rapid and helpful response is appreciated. Thank you.
